Religious Education for Children

At present, the Religious Education program of Our Lady of Hope serves students in Grade 1 through Grade 8. All families are invited to attend the 10:00 am Family Mass, which features the Children’s Choir, under the direction of Mr. Connor Doran.  Students then proceed over to the school for instruction.

Curriculum

Our Parish uses the Sadlier We Believe series. Each grade covers a different theme in the child’s Faith Formation:
K- Discovering God’s Love
1- God Loves Us
2- Jesus Shares God’s Life
3- We Are the Church
4- God’s Law Guides Us
5- We Meet Jesus in the Sacraments
6- We Are God’s People
7- Loyola Press - Early Preparation for Confirmation
8- Proximate preparation classes for Confirmation
 

Registration

Registration begins on June 5th.  Registration details and form are located on the Events tab of this site. 

New families will need to bring your child’s Baptimal certificate with you to registration. Classes begin in September and end in May.

Schedule

The first day of class is for registered students.  If you do not register before Friday, September 6th, your child will not be able to start classes until the following week.

The opening liturgy for the year will be at the 10am Mass on ; students will proceed over to the school through the Eliot Avenue entrance.  Classes begin to line up at 10:45 am and dismiss at 12:15 pm in the Auditorium.

• All grades will line up in the Auditorium

 

• Sunday School Fee is $125 for one child; $175 for 2 or more children.
• Kindergarten is offered but is NOT mandatory.
• There are 4 absences allowed for the year. Please provide a doctor’s note if your child misses a class.  Missed assignments must be made up at home and brought to their next class.
• Children Liturgy Mass will begin the 1st week of October at the 10am Mass. Schedule of future liturgies will be provided to the children.
• There is a two-year requirement in order for students to be able to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. First grade is required in order for the boys and girls to receive Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist in 2nd Grade.
• There is a three-year requirement in order for students to be able to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
• Eighth grade students will follow a specialized schedule in order to prepare for the sacrament of Confirmation.
• There is a separate fee for the Sacrament preparation: $70 for students receiving Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist; Confirmation is received in 8th Grade. There is a $125 fee for students receiving Confirmation
