Our parish is blessed to have young people eager to serve our community as Altar Servers. The ministry of serving at the altar is indispensable for a reverent and prayerful celebration of the Mass. This also provides the opportunity for young men to draw close to the priest during the celebration of Mass who may be considering a priestly vocation.
Parents are encouraged to discuss with their children the possibility of becoming an Altar Server. Your child should be in at least fifth grade and will be asked to complete training sesssions before being commissioned to serve at Sunday Mass.
If you would like to become an Altar Server, please contact the Rectory Office at (718) 429-5438.
The Our Lady of Hope Children’s Choir performs each week at the 9:30am Sunday Mass under the direction of Mr. Connor Doran.
Children in the 3rd grade and older are welcome to join the choir. Practice takes place every Tuesday @ 4:00pm in the Church.
How to Join: call the Rectory at 718-429-5438.
The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life, since in the Eucharist we receive Christ himself under the form of Bread and Wine.
By virtue of their ordination priests and deacons are ordinary ministers of Holy Communion. For pastoral reasons the Church also commissions lay people to distribute Holy Communion at Mass and during sick visits as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.
Parishioners desiring to become Extraordinary Ministers must first complete spiritual, theological and practical preparation so that they can assume this ministry with proper reverence and knowledge.
Eucharistic ministers serve our parish by assisting with the distribution of Holy Communion at Sunday Mass and visiting the homebound and sick with the Eucharist.
A Lector exercises the ministry of proclaiming the Word of God during Mass. This is a sacred duty since through the readings God himself speaks to His people.
Parishioners who have been trained and commissioned as Lectors proclaim the Word of God at all weekday and Sunday Masses.
If you are interested in becoming a Lector please contact the Rectory Office at (718) 429-5438.
