The Senior Goal Group develops ways to further meet the needs of our growing senior population, respecting them and recognizing the continued value of their wisdom and experience. This is done in the following 3 ways:
- Led by Diana Vita Leavy, the Group gathers and submits information of interest to seniors for the Church bulletin. Named the Senior Spotlight, this feature provides information for our senior citizen community, including useful phone numbers, announcements, available services, social events, etc.
- Led by Rae Baumeister and Marie Schot, the Group arranges social visits with seniors. Volunteers visit those in need of company who wish the opportunity to have a conversation with someone. Small Easter baskets made by the Group, plants, prayer pamphlets, and cards have been brought to the homebound.
- Led by Mary Davide, the Group coordinates with OLH teachers or others working with the younger grades to have children in their art classes (or as part of a religion project or other such program) make holiday cards/greeting cards to be given to seniors.
The Group meets monthly or every 2 months, as needed. Meetings are held on a Monday evening in the Rectory at 7:30 p.m. If you wish to join this ministry at OLH, please call Linda at 718-898-3222 or Diana at 718-335-2999.
